2024-01-105 min readBy Ceylon Tea Team

Introduction

Brewing the perfect cup of Ceylon tea is both an art and a science. In this guide, we share our best tips for getting the most out of your tea.

Water Temperature

One of the most important factors for good tea is water temperature. For black Ceylon tea, we recommend:

  • Black tea: 95-100°C
  • Green tea: 75-80°C
  • White tea: 70-75°C
  • Steeping Time

The steeping time affects the strength and flavor of your tea:

  • Light tea: 2-3 minutes
  • Medium strength: 3-4 minutes
  • Strong tea: 4-5 minutes
  • Use Fresh Water

Always use fresh, cold water. Reboiled water has less oxygen and can make the tea taste flat.

    Amount of Tea

A rule of thumb is to use about 2-3 grams of tea (approximately one teaspoon) per cup (200 ml).

    Preheating

Always preheat your teapot or cup with hot water before brewing. This helps maintain the right temperature during steeping.

    Summary

With the right temperature, time, and amount, you can brew a perfect cup of Ceylon tea every time. Feel free to experiment to find your personal favorite!
